Doors Open Ottawa

Every summer, Hydro Ottawa invites the community to explore Canada’s oldest, fully functioning hydroelectric generating station as part of the annual Doors Open Ottawa.

Doors Open Ottawa is a City of Ottawa initiative in which visitors are given the opportunity to learn more about what has been hiding in their “backyard” while exploring some of the city’s most prestigious buildings and facilities.

This is an amazing opportunity to share Hydro Ottawa’s heritage with the public and our commitment to the investment in innovative generating facilities. By opening the doors of Generating Station No. 2 to residents who otherwise may never have the chance to see inside this century-old gem, Hydro Ottawa experiences firsthand the value of community.

Join us on a tour of Generating Station No. 2 on June 3 and 4, 2017 to learn how hydroelectricity is produced.

Guided tours will take place at 156 Middle St., Victoria Island and begin at 10 a.m. The last tour leaves at 3:30 p.m. each day. Tour registration is required on-site. The tours include stairs and are partially conducted outdoors.

Spaces are limited and wait times may apply. Our facility is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Limited parking is available on Victoria Island.
