The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) today presented Hydro Ottawa with the association’s “Emergency Recovery Award” for its outstanding power restoration efforts after two tornadoes in September 2018.

Repair work continues after Hydro One’s Merivale transformer station was significantly damaged by a tornado on September 21. In order to return elements of the Merivale station into service, a short outage is scheduled for Sunday, October 14 from 4:00 a.m. to 4:30 a.m
Hydro Ottawa crews have made significant progress in restoring power after Friday’s devastating storm, with less than 1,000 homes and business still affected by outages. The majority are in the College and Knoxdale-Merivale wards where devastation was greatest.
