Hydro Ottawa is committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service and safety. To achieve this goal, we regularly evaluate, replace and upgrade equipment in your area – and across the region’s electrical distribution system.
Starting in March 2020, Hydro Ottawa in conjunction with the LRT Stage 2 track extension will be undertaking a project to replace and relocate hydro poles located along the OC Transpo Transitway. The pole relocations will be temporary and will be taking place during the construction phase of the LRT project to l enable the LRT’s constructor to build the proposed LRT Iris Station and necessary Iris Street roadway over the LRT guideway. The current Hydro Ottawa pole line along Iris Street is in conflict with the LRT construction plans and requires relocation and replacement to accommodate the project.
You may notice increased construction presence throughout the duration of the project, including excavation activities and construction vehicles. Traffic control will be implemented when required to ensure that roads and driveways remain accessible and safe to residents. Tree trimming may also be required.
Planned power interruptions are expected to occur as a result of this project, and all affected residents and businesses will be notified of these interruptions in advance. Our qualified staff and contractors will conduct this work safely and efficiently, ensuring that any inconvenience is minimal.
Affected street: Iris Street (between Parkway Drive and Adirondack Drive)
