Hydro Ottawa is committed to delivering the highest levels of customer service and safety. To achieve this goal, we regularly evaluate, replace and upgrade equipment in your area – and across the region’s electrical distribution system.
Starting July 2, 2020, Hydro Ottawa will be undertaking a project to replace 8 hydro poles in your area. Pole replacement involves excavating and replacing new poles located on your street and/or in your backyard. Tree trimming may also be required. This work is necessary to ensure reliability of the electricity distribution system in the area.
Excavated areas will be restored in accordance with Hydro Ottawa’s obligation under the Conditions of Service and the applicable grant easement. Please note that it is the customer’s responsibility to maintain the restoration work, including the proper development of grass.
Traffic control will be implemented to ensure that roads and driveways remain safe and accessible to residents and staff. A planned power outage will occur as a result of this project, we will work diligently to reduce disruptions and our qualified staff and contractors will conduct this work safely and efficiently, ensuring that any inconvenience is minimal.
Customers impacted by power interruptions related to this project will be contacted by Hydro Ottawa at least 72 hours prior to the power interruption taking place, by phone, text, email and/or written notice delivered to their door. Customers will also be notified if the power interruption is to extend beyond the original duration time. In case of adverse weather, the power interruption may be rescheduled.
