Hydro Ottawa crews have made significant progress in restoring power after Friday’s devastating storm, with less than 1,000 homes and business still affected by outages. The majority are in the College and Knoxdale-Merivale wards where devastation was greatest.
Hydro Ottawa crews have completed door-to-door assessments in Arlington Woods and Craig Henry. At this time, crews are disconnecting homes where residents are required to complete electrical work before power can be restored safely. The homes in this area which have been deemed safe will be reconnected later today.
The devastation in several neighbourhoods has been profound. The provincial government is providing extra support through the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program, which helps residents and businesses in tornado-affected areas that require help with emergency expenses over and above what private insurance can provide. To find out if a claim is eligible and for next steps, individuals and businesses should contact 1-844-780-8925 after speaking with their private insurance provider.

The community spirit that has emerged in the aftermath of this storm has been astounding. Hydro Ottawa is proud to power this great city, and thanks all customers for their support and understanding.
