Electrical Safety and Conservation

Electricity Safety and Conservation age-appropriate presentations are tailored to two groups, Kindergarten to grade 4 and grades 5 through grade 8. "Wires", the safety puppet, makes Electrical Safety and Conservation presentations fun and exciting for the younger grades while the older students are offered a more detailed presentation that uses a variety of teaching aids including an electrified display of a miniature village.

Since 2001, we’ve helped deliver more than 2,579 presentations, training more than 344,000 students.

This is a proactive program where we contact schools in our service territory according to a four year rotational schedule. This ensures that the program, offered in English or French, reaches the largest number of children on a regular basis.

Each Electricity Safety and Conservation presenters has at least 30 years of experience in the electrical field, and has been trained to give consistent, high quality presentations to the elementary schools they visit.

If you are a teacher and would like more information on either of these presentations, please contact us at [email protected]. Be sure to also check out Hydro Ottawa’s latest Think Energy podcast all about teaching students about electricity safety and conservation, here.
