Crews working to restore power throughout city after ice, snow fall

January 4, 2017

Hydro Ottawa crews are working to restore power to 4,510 customers in multiple areas across the city. Freezing rain followed by snow has caused some fallen trees and damaged overhead power lines and electrical equipment.

As of 2 p.m., a total of 124 outages are ongoing across our service territory, primarily impacting the areas of Centretown, Hintonburg, Alta Vista, Lincoln Heights, Rideau Heights, Knoxdale, Bells Corners, Crystal Beach, Kanata North, Stittsville, Beechwood/Rockcliffe and Cumberland.

Our crews are working to restore power initially to the primary outages, followed by smaller ones, keeping safety as the number one priority amid these winter conditions.

If you are without power, please call Hydro Ottawa’s Power Outage Reporting Line at 613-738-0188. In case of a downed power line, stay back at least 10 metres and call 911 immediately.

We encourage those affected to monitor our online outage map for information and updates at www.hydroottawa.com/outages, as well as on Facebook and Twitter @hydroottawa.

Hydro Ottawa wishes to thank its customers for their patience and understanding as restoration efforts are underway.
