Implementation

For new multi-unit residential buildings, once your electrical design is completed by your engineering company, including your metering specifications, Hydro Ottawa will approve and install a system that's right for your building. For existing multi-unit residential buildings, we begin with an initial assessment, then design and install a system that's right for your building.

If your installation requires the use of a dry core/dry type transformer located after the primary transformers, and the metering is on the customer’s side of this dry type transformer, then a Dry Core Transformer Energy Loss Charge will apply. This charge covers the cost of power and delivery for unmetered losses and is calculated based on the size and type of the dry core transformer.
