EV Charging Connection Overview
Hydro Ottawa is dedicated to supporting electrification and providing a streamlined process for property owners, managers, and EV supply equipment owners to apply for and connect their Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) to Hydro Ottawa’s distribution grid.
This process is designed to ensure compliance with existing Ontario Energy Board (OEB) guidelines and procedures for electric vehicle charging connections. By offering a simplified and efficient application and connection process, Hydro Ottawa aims to facilitate the integration of electric vehicles into the grid, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.
The EV charging connection process covers the connection of non-residential EVSE that include Level 2 and Level 3 charging stations for the following applications:
- publicly accessible direct current (DC) fast charging stations (such as parking areas intended for public use, including service stations, retail, restaurants, schools, churches, etc.);
- workplace charging (workplaces where EVs are used by employees);
- charging installations for multi-unit residential buildings; and
- charging stations used for commercial EV fleet (EV chargers for fleets used in support of business activities)
