Climate resilience
As climate change and extreme weather events continue to impact our lives, the resiliency of our city’s electricity system is critical. We are taking the valuable insights learned from past weather events to adapt our planning and construction practices, renew and expand our distribution infrastructure, reduce and mitigate climate impact on the grid and build back stronger.
To do this, we are:
- Leveraging technology to automate outage management and restoration, and proactively identify assets at risk of failure before they become a problem.
- Protecting our network by exploring options to bury power lines and related infrastructure in key sections of our distribution system, as well as expanding options for renewable energy generation and storage.
- Strengthening our infrastructure by installing composite poles and additional storm guying, which is a type of anchoring that reinforces the poles, providing extra stability during severe weather.
- Keeping customers informed with accurate and timely information.
- Dedicated to continuous improvement through ongoing refinement, continuously adapting our plans and processes to address ever-evolving challenges head-on.
We understand the importance of reliable power, especially during severe weather events. That’s why we are proactively strengthening our network, infrastructure and processes. Above all, we continuously assess the cost impact to our customers every step of the way so that we can continue to deliver safe, reliable power when you need it, every day.
