Hydro Ottawa offers many different options to allow you to make simple, on-time payments. Choose the method that’s most convenient for you. Once you’ve selected an option, please ensure you allow sufficient time for the payment to reach us by the due date. This time varies according to your payment option.
Sign up for one of our automated payment plans and say goodbye to cheques and postage costs. It’s automatic, so you can be sure your payment will be made on time every month.
Our Equal Monthly Payment Plan (EMPP) allows you to spread your annual electricity costs evenly through the year for easier budgeting and a more predictable monthly bill. With EMPP, you pay the same amount every month, learn more.
Your bill will detail your account charges as well as the date of withdrawal from your bank account.
There are two plans to choose from:
Pre-Authorized Payments Plan (PAP)
Once you have enrolled in our Pre-Authorized Payment Plan (PAP), the amount due will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account on the due date each month.
Equal Monthly Payments Plan (EMPP)
The Equal Monthly Payment Plan (EMPP) is also available without pre-authorized payment withdrawals.

You can enroll in one of our automated payment plans online or by mail. Your account must be up-to-date prior to registration. To enroll online, you will first need to set up an online account.

You can also pay your bill in person at a bank or through an automatic teller machine (ATM). You will need the remittance stub (the bottom portion of your bill below the dotted line) to make a payment on your account.
Your electricity bill can be paid using MasterCard, Visa or American Express.
Each transaction is subject to a percentage-based service fee of 1.75% of the total payment. Hydro Ottawa does not receive any portion of the service fee. There is no maximum amount per transaction.
Please allow up to two business days for processing. A non-sufficient funds charge of $15 applies for a returned payment on an account.
Credit card payment can be made online or by telephone. Be sure to have your account number and credit card information in hand before starting the payment process.
Once your transaction is complete, you will receive email notification that includes a confirmation number.

Note: Credit card payments are not accepted by mail.
If you are mailing a cheque or money order, please be sure to:
- Send your payment at least five days before the due date;
- Write your 20-digit account number on the front of your cheque or money order; and
- Include the remittance stub (the bottom portion of your bill below the dotted line) with your payment.
