While we know a utility isn’t the most obvious candidate for a best friend, we aim to be a friendly, dependable neighbour you can count on. Trust, reliability, and respect are at the core of any strong relationship.

Our dedicated crews work 24/7 - through rain, snow, and heat - to safely restore power and continuously improve the grid. And because good friends keep each other informed, we make it easy for you to stay in the loop during outages.

You can sign up for outage alerts through MyAccount, including email and text notifications, so you receive timely updates when they matter most. You can also report an outage by texting “OUT” to PWROUT (797688), making it quicker and easier to reach us when the power goes out.

Across the city, Hydro Ottawa is expanding and upgrading infrastructure to meet increasing demand, including new and modernized substations designed with lower-carbon construction approaches and a smaller environmental footprint. Projects like Cambrian station are helping us deliver reliable power where it’s needed most, while reflecting how sustainability is increasingly considered in how we build.
